The Property Tax Division is responsible for billing, collecting, and disbursing property taxes. Taxable property includes real estate and personal property, such as boats, business assets, motor vehicles, and mobile homes.
The City of Austell offers the following property tax exemptions for eligible residents. Applications must be submitted between January 1 and April 1 to be eligible for the exemption for that tax year.
Homestead Exemption
The Homestead Exemption provides an exemption of $2,000 from your total assessed value.

- Valid Driver's License
Age Exemption
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be 65 years of age or older.
- Have a gross annual income that does not exceed $10,000. Income received from the Social Security Administration, retirement, or pensions are not included in this calculation

- Previous year's tax return, or
- If you do not file a tax return, a letter from the Tax Administration showing your total income for the year.
Veterans Exemption
Eligible veterans must provide the required documents listed above, along with a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) stating that the veteran is 100% disabled.
