Patrick Maxwell

Fire Chief Patrick Maxwell has served the City of Austell for nearly 30 years now.

He was born in North Carolina and moved to Austell at the age of 2. His father was a Marine and his mother served in the Army until she decided to stay home and raise her four boys. Chief Maxwell began his career in the mid 80's as a volunteer firefighter for Paulding County Fire Department. 

While serving the citizens of Paulding County, Ga, he worked his way up to Chief of station 5 on Ridge Rd. He began his career with the City of Austell Fire Department in 1987 as a part-time firefighter and by the year 1990 he earned a full-time position. Chief Maxwell spent 10 years working his way up through the positions of Firefighter, Lieutenant, and Captain before being appointed to Assistant Fire Chief in 1997.

He remained Assistant Fire Chief until 2015 when he was appointed to Fire Chief. Chief Maxwell has served in many capacities for the fire department to include, arson investigator, inspector, code enforcement, and Fire Marshall. He has been married to his wife for 38 years and together they have 3 children. His daughter is a certified firefighter and currently following in her father's footsteps. 

Chief Maxwell currently oversees the daily administrative duties of the Fire Department as well as the Fire Marshall's office.
