Alcohol Pour Permits

City of Austell Alcohol Pour Permits

The Department of Community Affairs has changed the application and approval process for all alcohol pouring permits. Code Enforcement has been designated as the unit to oversee, issue, renew and revoke alcohol and special privilege permits for the City. Under the City of Austell’s Official Code, all initial applications and renewal permits require fingerprinting and a background check before approval and issuance of a license/permit. The permitting process contains two parts. They can be completed at the same time.

PART ONE

Fingerprints/Background checks will be conducted through the Georgia Applicant Fingerprint Service (GAPS). The applicant must visit the following website, pay the fingerprint fee (separate from the City’s permit fee), and when prompted enter the following Service Code and Reviewing Agency ID.

PART TWO

Create an account (or login to an already existing account) in the Open Gov portal below and pay the $50 permit fee. Once the background is approved and the fee is paid, the applicant will be notified when their ID card is ready for pickup.

When Are Permits Required?

The Code Enforcement Division works closely with the Community Affairs Department. There are many Ordinances that fall under the jurisdiction for which the Code Enforcement enforces or assists in gaining compliance.

A permit is required for new construction or major renovation projects. Permits need to be issued prior to beginning work and must receive a final inspection by the Building Inspector.

If you are unsure if a permit is needed, please contact the Community Development Specialists at (770) 944-4309.
